Hi Everyone!
Below is the link to my debrief video on my experience at Greenhouse.
Occupational therapy is a beautiful profession filled with countless opportunities. As a student, I am astounded each day by the adaptability of a profession created to center around the client and not the practice. Join me as I muse the beauty of a profession that not only pushes you to become a more competent practitioner but also drives you to discover the uniqueness found in each individual.
Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI really love the way you described the role of OT at Greenhouse and I feel like being an advocate is a fantastic role for you! I believe that starting something similar to this would be so great for the Memphis community. Like you, I am so excited to finish our last few classes and start to really apply our knowledge in October! We are so close, we will be graduating before we know it. Like everything else, I believe our general understanding of the medical background will really grow once we are out in the real world and seeing all of these diagnosis all the time. This was a great video, thank you for sharing!

P.S. I really like your plant in the background, please tell me where you bought it :)
Hi Lauren!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with what Macy just stated. This OT role is perfect for you because you're always a great advocate when it comes to people who need it! I'm so glad you enjoyed your time at Greenhouse and I'm sure you were a comfort to everyone you met!
I also think understanding the medical background of a patient's situation is essential when it comes to looking at a person holistically. With my mom being a nurse, I was able to learn a lot from her and understand more medical terms, but there's always other opportunities to learn more!
I can't believe how close we are to out Level 2 Fieldwork rotations! It'll be here before we know it! Thank you for sharing your experience at Greenhouse! :)

DeleteLauren, i'm glad you had a good experience at GH! I went for my last fieldwork experience and I agree that advocacy is a big role of the student OT's there. I was amazed at how many programs and organizations were available in the Murfreesboro area. I also agree that having more medical knowledge is important for our future. We will get there! I can't wait to hear more about your experience when we get back! I hope you have a great break!
